The honest answer is: a little earlier than you think.
Your wedding dress isn’t something that simply arrives in a box — the beautiful ones are made, and making something properly takes time. If you’re dreaming of a custom or couture gown, I’d love to meet you around twelve to eighteen months before your wedding. For us here at Corston, we like six to eight months to create a gown beautifully, without ever rushing — and before that, you’ll want a few unhurried months to shop, sit with your options, and truly fall in love.
Starting with a comfortable buffer is the kindest thing you can do for yourself. It means no last-minute panic, no rush fees, and plenty of time for the fittings that make a gown fit like it was made only for you (because it was).
And if you’re reading this a little later than that — please don’t panic. It happens all the time, and it’s rarely a disaster. Come and have a chat with us; we can often work to a shorter timeline for a small rush fee. A calm bride is always my goal, whatever the calendar says.
