Corston Couture offers brides a rare blend of romance and cutting-edge design, merging the edginess of high fashion with the meticulous craftsmanship of couture techniques. 2025 is shaping up to be the brand’s most exciting year yet.

What began in a converted garage in Newcastle has grown into an international success story, with Corston gowns now stocked in bridal boutiques across London, New York, Los Angeles, and beyond.

Much of Corston’s success comes down to the personal dedication founder Coral and her team give to each and every bride.

At its heart, the brand is built on the principles of true couture service. Even as the wholesale side of the business has grown, over 50% of Corston’s work remains direct-to-consumer — with many brides opting for custom gowns — a testament to the value of the in-person experience.

The flagship store in Paddington, set within a 150-year-old grand Victorian terrace, offers a private and welcoming atmosphere.

Corston’s consultations and fittings are known for their exceptionally high level of service. Fresh flowers, flickering candles, and the gentle offering of tea or sparkling water create a serene, intimate environment where brides can navigate the many decisions involved in selecting their gown.

To maintain this peaceful, luxurious experience, Corston sees only one bride at a time, with appointments held in private rooms shielded from outside view. Each bride enjoys an expansive dressing room, ensuring comfort and privacy.

“We are deeply committed to making each bride feel safe, cared for, and respected,” says Coral. “We don’t believe in high-pressure sales tactics or commission-driven staff.”

“This is likely the most significant retail purchase a bride will ever make, and everything we do is designed to honor that, giving her the space and time she needs to make this important decision.”

Consultations are treated as enjoyable explorations of design possibilities, rather than sales pitches. Often, they become educational moments — understanding what works for a bride’s body, what doesn’t, and why.

Coral shares that they feel privileged to support brides through both joyful and occasionally challenging moments. Weddings can bring emotional complexity and family dynamics, and the Corston team is there to provide a soft, understanding space.

As the business has grown, Coral can no longer meet with every bride personally, but she remains closely involved, especially with couture clients, ensuring every step meets the highest standard.

What brides invest in at Corston — beyond a stunning gown — is the undivided attention of Coral or her skilled team, who bring a wealth of expertise in fit, design, and couture construction.

Every Corston gown is created in the Sydney workroom by a team of specialists in pattern making, cutting, construction, beading, lace placement, and hand finishing.

One of the challenges in a growing bridal business is maintaining exclusivity. Brides want their gown to feel unique, not something they’ve seen repeatedly on social media or worn by friends. That’s why Corston retires popular designs after a certain number of sales, preserving the sense of individuality each bride desires.

Although many Corston designs appear effortless and easygoing, behind the scenes Coral and her team are highly technical designers, meticulously balancing garment construction, fabric selection, and aesthetic vision.

Personal design touches are woven throughout every gown, ensuring each piece is truly unique. For brides seeking a personal touch, Corston offers the option to customise even Ready-to-Wear designs, tailoring them to look and feel exactly as the bride envisions (design edits are an additional cost). This is where Coral and her team’s sensitivity and skill truly shine.

To keep the collections fresh and innovative, Coral and the team release two mini-collections each year, allowing them to explore emerging trends and new creative directions.

Corston considers it a privilege to be part of such a meaningful chapter in a bride’s life.

“When we receive wedding photos, thank you notes, or small gifts,” Coral reflects, “it’s incredibly rewarding — knowing our dedication has helped a bride feel truly amazing on her wedding day.”

Corston Couture Team

Coral

|

Head Designer and Founder of Corston
I have been obsessed with sewing and fabrics since I was very young, just like most of my incredible team below. It actually took a while to find my passion in Bridal, though I was always passionate about sewing and creating anything really. I at first tried doing a science degree then fell into everyday menswear for sportsmen. When a recession hit, I pivoted to women’s club wear (women still buy clothes in a recession, men, not so much) and finally settled on specializing in Bridal Design around 30 years ago. The years that have followed have been full of exciting ups and downs, learning so much form amazingly talented staff and mentors, and thousands of gorgeous bridal dresses created for lots of amazing Brides. About 5 years ago, after focusing exclusively on Custom dresses, we launched the first RTW collection, which is now stocked internationally. Corston Couture couldn’t have reached this level of success with out the many incredible people who have worked for Corston in the past, or the dream team I have, pouring their heart and soul into every stitch they make today and every day. I am so proud to introduce the team below.

Myla

|

Workroom Manager
Myla’s role in making the workroom at Corston function as incredibly well, as it does, is significant. She is the absolute master of Systems and organization, as well as just being the most wonderful human being. Originally from the Ukraine, where she studied Accounting and then Art and Fashion design, she moved to Italy (for love) in her 20’s. She worked for a large Fashion label in Italy, at first in product development and as a garment technician, working there for around 20 years. 8 years ago she moved to Australia, and found work with a very well known Sydney bridal designer, the started here 3 years ago. Outside of work she loves spending time with her 2 sons and traveling to new places.

Lily

|

Assistant Workroom Manager
Lily is our youngest full time star at Corston, she has been with us for 2 years, although interned with us for 2 years before that while doing her Bachelor of Fashion Design at The Ultimo Tafe. Like most of us here, she started sewing when she was young, 12 years of age in Lily’s case, learning from her Mother and both Grandmothers. She has grown so much in the time she has been with us, she is now the Assistant Workroom Manager, though is also an incredible “Jill of All Trades” here too. Outside of work she loves going to concerts, markets, the Gym, sewing at home for personal projects, and spending time with her family and friends.

Olivia

|

Senior Machinist
Olivia also started sewing when she was 3 years old with her Nan. All those years of honing her skills certainly show here every day, she is a master of so many difficult techniques. After leaving high school she studied Fashion at RMIT University, graduating 8 years ago and moving into bridal. She loves being challenged with new ideas to be used in a custom gown for a client and bringing dream dresses to life for our clients. In her free time she loves reading, and doing any kind of craft as well as spending as much time outdoors or by the water as much as possible with her dogs.

Anastasia

|

Machinist
Ana is part of our incredible sewing team, with an incredible eye for details and perfect finishes, inside and outside the gowns, she has been working in the bridal industry for 5 years now, perfecting her craft. Ana just got married herself, in a beautiful bridal gown she designed and sewed herself, and really loves her part in our important gonial every day, to bring a bride’s dream dress design to life. In her free time, Ana loves spending time with her new husband, outdoors in the beautiful Australian sun.

Susie

|

Senior Machinist
Susie studied Electrical Engineering at University then worked for a few years as an Engineer, however, due to family responsibilities, she took up work sewing which she had already been doing privately as a way to support her two sons. She has now been working in the fashions construction area for 30 years. I can honestly say her problem solving genius (probably powered by that engineer trained mind of hers) is incredible, and so much appreciated here at Corston. Outside of work, she loves travelling and planning holidays and life in general.

Breeana

|

Hand Work and Beading Specialist
Bree started sewing when she was also very young and cannot remember a time when she wasn’t sewing. She studied Fashion at TAFE, graduating 10 years ago, then moved right into Bridal. Bree is an amazing allrounder. She can create a dress from start to finish, but her passion is sculpting incredible pieces of dress art with moulded lace placement and/or beaded details, the more complicated the design or concept, the more she enjoys it. Outside of work, she loves baking and beach days, as well as long walks and exploring new places.

Simone

|

Cutting and Patternmaking
Simone studied Fashion and Textile design at UTS, graduating more than 30 years ago. She started her working life with a well known fast fashion company and 5 years ago she moved over into Bridal. She particularly enjoys the attention that can be given to details and beautiful fabrics in Bridal, a luxury that is not present at all in Fast fashion. During this time Simone was primarily a pattern maker while also teaching sewing to Children. Simone is a master of not wasting fabric, cutting with absolute precision, she is the back bone of the work room. If somethings goes wrong in cutting, it just dominos right through the entire process of creating a garment, so her fastidious attention is so much appreciated here. Outside of work, Simone like to lead a very varied life, enjoying cooking, gardening, sculpture. music (including playing piano) swimming, snorkeling, and hanging out with her two children.

Ruth

|

Global Wholesale & Admin Manager
Ruth grew up in the UK where she studied Marketing at University in Liverpool, before taking a graduate position in finance. When she moved to Sydney in 2015 Ruth decided to pursue her real passion, and took a Fashion Buying role in Menswear where she worked with many exciting brands and also across product development. Aside from the absolutely amazing team she gets to work with every day, Ruth says she loves watching design ideas come to life from the initial sketch to the final creation and seeing the pictures of our real brides looking beautiful! After working in fast fashion for so long, she says it’s a real joy to see the work and care that goes into each dress and watching it all come together in our workroom. Outside of work, she loves hanging out with Frank (her rather large but gorgeous Boxer Pup), enjoying pasta and wine, going to the gym and running (to work off the pasta and wine), spending time outdoors, vintage shopping, and travelling as much as she can.

Angelene

|

Patternmaking and Machining
Angie did an Applied Fashion Design and Technology degree 11 years ago then moved into the Bridal Industry. She is a very skilled, multi-talented staff member, beginning here as an exceptional Machinist, before expressing an interest in moving to Patternmaking, which she has excelled at. As with all staff members here, she loves taking or watching a dress go from initial concept to the stunning fully finished gown. Angie got married herself at the end of 2024, wearing a beautiful wedding dress that she designed and sewed herself! Outside of work, she loves waking up early and doing something physical, spending time with her future Husband, as well as her 3 Pomeranians, as well as going to the beach and trying new restaurants.

Donna

|

Couture Dress Fitter & Senior Seamstress
Donna brings 36 years of experience in the fashion industry, having started sewing at 13 years old after her nana gave her a sewing machine as a gift, and shortly after taking a Saturday job at a local design company in her native Wollongong. Alongside her role at Corston Donna also volunteers for Worldskills, which takes her around the world for competitions promoting skills excellence in fashion technology, which Donna describes is a real joy and a privilege to see young people with such talent. Aside from working with such beautiful fabrics at Corston, Donna really enjoys fittings with our beautiful brides especially at the toile stage, to help resolve fit issues before the dress is brought to life! Outside of work, Donna spends her time with her kids, and is a talented chef (we regularly get to sample her brilliant international dishes and baking here at the Corston offices), and she also enjoys the outdoors, and can be found walking or skiing in the snowy mountains (when shes not out fabric shopping!).
